Glassware

How well do you know Glassware….

Whether you drink champagne, beer, or tea, Choosing the right glass allows you to fully experience the depth and variety of flavours, aromas, and carbonation that define your drink.

Everyday glassware should be stylish enough to make a drink feel special, yet should still be practical, durable, and easy to handle. While investing in elegant, stemmed glasses like wine goblets and champagne flutes can complement a drink and add a sense of special occasion.

Did you know wine glasses are crafted with purpose, each shape and size designed to complement your choice of wine. Red wine should be drunk from a larger and rounder glass, to allow the wine to breathe and enhance its aromas. Whereas White wine glasses would have a smaller bowl and a narrower rim which helps maintain a cooler temperature.

Speciality wines and champagnes should be enjoyed in Tall narrow flutes, which help preserve bubbles and turn indulgence into a refined memorable experience. However, a cocktail should be presented in a glass that enhances its appearance, aroma, and the drinking experience.

Highball and lowball glasses are the workhorses of the cocktail world, providing the versatility needed for a wide range of mixed drinks. These provide the perfect vessel for a mojito, G&T or an Old Fashioned, while a martinis glass shape serves both style and function, allowing the drink to stay cool in hand and preventing dilution. Or if it is a daiquiri you prefer then a coupe glass is best suited.

For those wanting a Lager or Ale, these are best enjoyed in tall, narrow glasses, whilst a pilsner will be best in a tall, slender, and tapered glass which will preserve the bubbles and maintain a head, which locks in the freshness.

And for those preferring tea or coffee a double walled glass mug is ideal for keeping beverages hot, or a tall wide glass is perfect for those that prefer their coffee iced.

Essential Glassware does not mean having an overwhelming collection of glasses but is about having an array of versatile quality pieces that suit a range of drinks and occasions. Building a glassware collection should be done over time and should prioritise quality over quantity. Multipurpose tumblers, a set of quality wine glasses and something personal that reflects your taste such as cocktail glasses, or a decanter is the perfect starting point.
